Training

What is the process for my training?

STEP 1

A qualified Holmesglen TAFE approved workplace trainer/assessor will arrange a time to meet with you. The meeting may take 30 minutes to 1 hour. This meeting is a Skills Assessment.

At this meeting the person will ask questions about the work you perform, and what skills and knowledge (current competencies) you have acquired to perform the work.

This information will be matched against the skills needed to complete the particular Certificate you are enrolled in, to identify only the areas that you need training for.

STEP 2

The information gathered in the previous step will be used to develop your own individual Training Plan. This plan will show what skills/competencies you already have and what skills you still require in order to complete the Certificate. It will list what training you need to do and in what order it should be completed.

This plan also includes a timetable of when a unit or part of a unit (referred to as an element) should be completed.

STEP 3

Your individual training plan will then be sent to you along with your Resources Kit. This Kit will contain all the necessary information you will need to complete the training.

STEP 4

A qualified Nextra or Holmesglen TAFE approved workplace trainer/assessor will monitor your training and conduct a Formal Assessment of each unit you complete and will sign your Record Book after each assessment.

STEP 5

When you have successfully completed the required training, you will be issued with a Nationally Accredited Certificate.
